Desktop and Mobile app

Make and receive calls using different applications covering all platforms, you can dial customers using a web based application accessed via the browser, this can also be installed as an application extension from your browser. If you want to take it up a notch we do also offer a desktop application that provides a call bar, history and activity monitor with many different integrations available for it.

Mobile phones can also be connected via our app MSP Anywhere which is available on both App Store for iPhones and Play Store for Android giving you a convenient tool to take and make calls from outside of the office; we would note though that no VOIP mobile app is a “perfect” solution and is known within the industry that is is the case – if there are any issues with mobile signal then call quality may vary.

Desktop and Mobile app FAQ

How does the web-based app work?

Nice and simply, just head over to the portal page provided by us, login with your username and password then click on the phone app icon in the top right hand corner of the page. This will then load a fully functioning web application which you can take and make calls on.

Just be sure to give the application permissions when it pop’s up asking to use your microphone and to display notifications; otherwise the phone won’t ring and you won’t see someone calling!

The browser extension app simply provides a nice pop out window containing what is found on the web app, separating it from your browser; you can then pin this as a shortcut to your task-bar allowing for one-click easy access to your web-phone.

The desktop app provides a much higher level of functionality than the web based & browser extension apps. It is much more granular in how it can be configured to suit you whilst also providing extra functionalities such as copy dialling (highlight a number, copy and a pop up is presented offering you to call the number without dialling it), number recognition tool that can be used to pull phone numbers form images and also many CRM integrations.

To operate well the mobile app requires a solid connection and generally speaking when connected to mobile services (LTE) signal can go up and down; VOIP requires a consistent stream and more bandwidth than a conventional mobile phone call – if there is a lack of bandwidth available then call quality can vary.

Simply put; deskphones, web clients and the desktop app are all actively talking to the server waiting for a call to come in – the mobile app does the same thing too however there is also a delay between passing the call from the server through to the mobile app hence you then get the slight delay.

Yes, there is! We can procure SIM cards that register with your businesses caller ID; from experience these seem to work much better than conventional VOIP apps that are installed on mobile phones; for more information please see our page on SIMs.

We encrypt our telephone traffic so your call cannot be listened to. Some providers try to reduce the costs of their servers by not encrypting the traffic. This means someone sniffing your office network could hear the content of calls.

The apps will work exactly as they do in the UK. Calls will be made with your landline number, which will ring like usual.

You have to provide data to your phone or computer, either WiFi or the local mobile phone network (charges may apply from your carrier for this), but we will not charge any extra for sending calls to you whilst you are abroad.
